Rayan Lecurieux-Durival
Rayan Lecurieux-Durival is a professional dancer from French Guiana, France, who started with the Ballet Technique (Vaganova and CeccheI Method) then Modern (Horton and Graham) and Jazz techniques. In French Guiana, he trained in 3 schools: The conservatory of Guyana EPCC, The conservatory of Larivot, and ADACLAM. He went to Paris and joined the Rick ODUMS School training institute by video audition. He studied there for 2 years (With Geraldine Hamstrong, Rick Odums, Magali Verin, and Stefania Pavan) and successfully passed his Technical Aptitude Test. After a long process of audition videos, Rayan was accepted at The Ailey School (part of the multi-award-winning and historic Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre) and becomes a scholarship holder for 3 years. This Scholarship Program offers financially supported full-time training, to those who show the highest potential for a professional dance career and also have the opportunity to audition for repertory workshops with guest artists.
Rayan has the privileged to work on stage, in Film, on Television, and in Commercials. He has performed for The Black Iris Project movie “Wild” the Final episode; New York Emmy- nominated Dance Film series by choreographer Jeremy McQueen and received a very special honor from Bronx Borough President, Vanessa Gibson. This TV show will be a live dance performance too at the “Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture”. Rayan has the opportunity to perform with: Bill T jones (honored with several awards) at the Park Avenue Armory for the world premiere of his massive new work “Deep Blue Sea”, composed of Bill T jones himself, The Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Company and a cast of 100 dancers. Rayan has performed with several companies such as the Jeune Ballet Jazz Rick ODUMS, and the Jeune Ballet Modern of the Rick ODUMS in Paris, and he will also have the great honor to perform with the very famous American company “Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater” during 2 seasons (The Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents – as well as millions more through television broadcasts, film screenings, and online platforms). He has performed TABLE OF SILENCE the 9/11 with Buglisi Dance Theatre at the Josie Robertson, Lincoln Center. He has the chance to dance the role of the Cavalier (Principal role) on the Nutcracker with the Axelrod Contemporary dance Theater in Jersey. Rayan has also danced for an artist from his country Saïna Mano]e in the clip video “Anna to wey “. He also has danced at the Joyce Theatre with Jamel Gaines Crea^ve outlet Dance Company for the resistance and Healing: Engaging the Ring Shout. Rayan has danced for some international choreographers: Matthew Rushing, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Freddie Moore, Milton Myers, Kirven Douthit-Boyd, Brice Mousset, Troy Powell, Elisa Clark, Francesca Harper, Norbert Delacruz, Bryan Knowlton, Brice Mousset, Ja’ Malik and a lot of more. Rayan is currently a company member with Parsons Dance, Jennifer Muller / the Work, Buglisi Dance Theatre, and Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet Dance Company.
Rayan is an accomplished Dance Instructor, teaching master classes all over French Guiana, Paris, and the United States where he is sharing his knowledge of the Horton technique in depth at The Ailey School.
He is teaching Ballet and Modern technique at the Jamel Gaines Creative outlet organization in Brooklyn.
