Mikaela Brandon (she/we) is a performing artist originally from Warren, NJ. She is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program and completed the Hubbard Street Professional Training Program (HSPro). She has worked closely with choreographers such as Baye & Asa, Hélène Simoneau, Yusha-Marie Sorzano, Stephanie Batten-Bland, Khensani Mathebula and has performed works by Fernando Melo, Matthew Rushing, Amy Hall-Garner, Rena Butler, Adam Barruch, and Jennifer Archibald. Furthermore, her experience as an actress (SAG-AFTRA) on TV/film, commercial/music video, and industrial projects supports her knowledge of the industry. Mikaela worked as an educator at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School, Hubbard Street Dance Center, Gibney Dance Center, and Mckoy Dance Project || MDP. She volunteered with Dance Artists’ National Collective (DANC) during the peak of COVID-19 to provide equitable and sustainable working conditions for dancers within the field. Currently, Mikaela enjoys sonic research, movement improvisation, storytelling, fitness, and various forms of somatic practice. She is most interested in how we, as a collective, can have more of a holistic, embodied experience within the oppressive frameworks of society and culture.
